Once again

So here you are, once again,

Tears streaming down your face,

Shaking and fearing something you don’t even know of yet

You’re sat on the toilet floor hugging your knees struggling to breathe,

And for those 10 minutes it all feels so painful

Like time has frozen and you are still thirteen

At school with your peers taunting you

Except now you’re 24 and you’re at work and you are still scared of the unknown

You sit there rocking scared stiff of the day ahead with no idea why

But you know how to control it now, you pinch yourself, you breathe slower,

And you force yourself to rise again, practising fight not flight

Still shaking, you wipe your face and although you’ll be reminded everytime someone asks if you’re ok that you aren’t

You go back to your desk and you continue to fight a battle in this two decade long waging war which has only had to be won three times in the last six months unlike when you were thirteen and it was every single day…
